While I was away for a month placement in the Russian Academy of Arts, our teen group had a great time doing a portrait workshop with Terry Hunt. Amazing results! Well done everyone.
We are still busy with portraiture. This time we were looking into art history, exploring how artists approached this topic. We had a go at Van Gogh’s self portrait. Some work in progress below.
We looked today at human face proportions and attempted to draw a realistic female portrait. We’ve got stunning and somewhat peculiar results. Reminiscent of Mona Lisa?
Last Monday we were extremely lucky to watch a painting demonstration by a professional artist. Terry Hunt, an established portraitist, gave us a fantastic step-by-step demo with all the tips and tricks on how to create an expressive portrait from a photograph. Invaluable experience! Thanks a lot, Terry!
Older children are moving on to explore human face and figure. We studied how to built a realistic portrait and tried our hands on manga.
